THE GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED..

the last couple weeks have been so amazing with our family, and one of the biggest events was baseball. if you know us at all, you know that our family is all about baseball. its just what we do. my dad has been coaching it for over 30 years. and i wish i could paint a picture for you of how emotionally involved we all are about it, but there's no way.  the team this year wasn't expected to do much. we even had to do a play-in game to actually get in to the state tournament. we lost the first game (double-elimination) so our tournament ride wasn't expected to be very long. but we magically won the next game... with one loss already, and having to play 7 games in the next 5 days with only 3 pitchers, you do the math.

monday, we won.
tuesday, we won.
wednesday afternoon, we won.
wednesday night, we won.
thursday night, we won.
friday morning, we won.

after that friday morning game, when we beat skyline 12-0 and were facing them again that night for the state championship game my dad said "im afraid to be touched, i'm afraid to be pinched... i might wake up". we kept saying is this really happening? a team that had been counted out from the very beginning had just achieved the impossible and won 6 games in the last 5 days.

after one of the most intense games we have ever sat through in my entire life, we lost in 10 innings. it was so heartbreaking to be within one strike of winning the game, and have so many other opportunities to win. but to have that kind of comeback, and lose to a class-less team.. it was so hard. hard to see those boys, some of our best friends, and also our dad cry because we had never seen a team fight so hard for something. they didn't come to win second place.

a reporter wrote such a great article on the game. he said,  "Some people may wonder why I’d write this, why I’d focus so much on the losing side. Sometimes the winner/loser doesn’t matter. Sometimes what matters is the story itself, and everything that was given to make it happen.....I won’t remember the Skyline-Timpanogos game for who won and who lost. I’ll remember it because it was the greatest, most emotionally charged high school game I’d ever seen."

someone commented on an article and said...

amen, brothas!

we love our family so much, and were so happy to spend day in- and day out, supporting our dad and cheering on those t-wolves. you were #1 in our book, that's for sure. we love you, coach!

thanks for the steal-post, paige!

spring break 2011!

the week started out with spending lots & lots of time with baby ro & her mom as they had a sleepover for a few days. we miss them soo much!

then we spent a lot of time with miss tori. what a friend that girl is! we made lots of adventures driving around & eating like fat kids. we made cupcakes {& frosting, mind you} & delivered them to some of our most favorite people.

sometimes googling "easy frosting recipes" will lead you in the wrong direction & AFTER you make the stuff you'll read comments that say DO NOT TRY THIS!! IT'S HORRIBLE, CLUMPY, & TASTES AWEFUL!! shoot, dawg. it actually turned out pretty good.

yummy yummy for our tummies.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

we spent our saturday at the ballpark, holla! one of our very favorite games was played today - timpanogos vs. viewmont. it's a tradition to play them every year because my dad not only played there, but was a freaking allstar. {they retired his jersey number - he was that good!} all of the nelson clan lives up near viewmont & most of our cousins go there, so we just play them every year & have a barbeque.

we. got. fried. it was such a nice day & it's been so cold lately that we didn't even think about bringing sunscreen. our bad. & we both have very weird tan lines. please bless they go away by PROM! then, taylor shattered taryn's iPhone. yes, the screen is cracked x10 & you get glass pieces in your ear after every time you talk on it. rough.

March 12, 2011

i'm sick of seeing march madness posts.

i've been in st. geeeezy for the past few days. the annual baseball trip, HOLLA!

i got a makeover - walking around feeling like i was 30 was great. the baseball game made me a little nervous today. i forgot that i kinda freak out sometimes. (the girl behind me basically told me to chill)

i found a new pet peeve.
when you get denied the kids menu.

like really?! i know i'm not 12, but sometimes i'm not that hungry & i don't want to spend one million dollars on food i'm not going to eat! "you can't do that..." URG. instead i was forced to order an item on the "big kids" menu. i'm spending money to eat at your restaurant, let me order what i want! would you rather me not get anything? ANNNDD get this. i ordered a refillable root beer float {it was $4 mind you} & they didn't even refill my vanilla ice cream!! if i wanted rootbeer i would have ordered it.

the brick oven in st george, utah disappointed me very much. if you're ever near, don't go! they'll offend you & make you in a bad mood for the rest of the day. just sayin.
